St Columba's Windows Return

Many of St Columba's fine stained glass windows were removed last March for restoration by Christian Shaw, of Edinburgh. The windows need releading, since the lead has a lifetime of something over a hundred years. Especially where the gales blow against the glass, he lead was severely bowed. Shortly after their removal, lockdown struck. This meant that the studios were unable to complete the repairs for many months. The windows were at last completed, but the second lockdown has meant that the workmen could not stay over in Argyll under the Covid regulations.

All these complications are at last being resolved, and we look forward to seeing the windows gloriously restored in the week ending June 19th. The following Sunday is an Evensong Sunday at St Columba's, so we may be able to mark their return with prayer.

Perhaps we will be able to do so with full festival at some later point in the year: with music, song, and - let us hope - food.
